Pioneer DEH-P6500 In-Dash CD PlayerSRZ.com Review (James Garnett, Portland, Oregon) Pros: Pioneer / Cons: Small Display I bought the Pioneer DEH-P6500 about 3 weeks ago for my car. It impressed me in the store and now, in my ride, it's blowin' my mind! This is an outstanding CD player! This head unit will make your factory speakers sound sweet, if you get a great set of speakers...you're in for some amazingly good audio enjoyment! Features:
Other Info:
Feature Overview: The backlight is white which isn't nearly as cool as blue or red or another color. I saw a guys' CD player had green backlighting...that was pretty cool. But backlighting is helpful in any case. The buttons glow in a light green. The anti-shock feature works well. Going out to my house (on 5 acres in the boonies) there's a bumpy gravel road and I've never had a CD skip, though I don't drive very fast on this part. The graphics are pretty good for the price of the player. I was surprised it had this feature when I saw the price! I really like that it is XM Radio ready. I have yet to subscribe to it but I think it's a cool feature anyway. I've heard XM is really good with a wide variety of stations. I don't really like the station preset EQ's. I had the installers customize one for me and I did the other customizable one. I don't really like the buttons on the remote, but that's a minor complaint especially considering I rarely use it. With the Supertuner IIID technology that Pioneer has come out with my radio stations come in very clearly. Apparently, the Supertuner uses digital processing. The worst thing about this CD player though... It does not play MP3s! Sadness, I know! I almost didn't get it because of that. But in the end...the features, price, and quality won me over. Why I Purchased The DEH-P6500: The first thing that drew me to this CD player was the price. It was regularly priced at $219.99 but on sale for $179.99! I bought it in Oregon (Portland) so there was no sales tax either, a savings of $13.68! Second, the features are really, really good! Especially considering my first reason for buying it. Third, I thought it looked cool and Pioneer makes good car audio equipment. For the hardcore car audio enthusiast these are probably really shallow reasons for buying a car stereo but - oh well! By the way, I purchased my P6500 at Car Toys.
Final Say: I love my music loud, in fact, I've been pulled over several times by police officers for it! But I only like it loud if it is balanced (the right amount of bass & treble, etc.) and quality. This is the perfect CD player for me! The display is fun for passengers to watch and displays important information in an easy to ready attractive format. The remote is easy to use, has good range, and the battery lasts a long time. Overall, this is a really good car stereo. You should be very pleased if you decide to purchase one yourself! I highly recommend the P6500. It has proven itself as a great in-dash CD player.
